One year ago, the solar park next to the runway of Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTHA) was officially opened. This park, developed and built by Unisun Energy in cooperation with Rotterdam The Hague Innovation Airport (RHIA) and Eneco, consists of over 37,000 solar panels and covers an area of no less than 7.7 hectares.
Due to the large amount of sun last year and the proper monitoring and maintenance, by Uper Energy Europe, the solar park has performed above expectations in the first year and has thereby more than met the target for year 1.
With the energy output, it is possible to supply Rotterdam The Hague Airport with electricity 3 times, which is equal to 5100 2-person households on an annual basis. To make optimal use of the generated energy, the possibilities for storage and regulation of energy flows are also being investigated.
Investing in green energy not only reduces CO2 emissions, but also reduces dependence on fossil fuels and improves air quality. The solar park at Rotterdam The Hague Airport is a great example of how we are generating more and more solar energy in the Netherlands, and through this solar park we are contributing to the energy transition.
